We look forward to seeing all of you this coming Wednesday at 6:30 – 8:00PM / room 13, Riverside Church basement. Follow the back stairway by the elevator and go to the back hallway.

Those of you who are new to our group, spend a few minutes reading through “4 Pillars” to gain a perspective on what we spend time studying together.

We enjoy studying and discussing multiple topics, including the very real condition of our country, leadership, future… (oh yeah, and some politics). However, all subjects are viewed through a Biblical lens, to gain Godly wisdom into how we as men are to follow God, love our wives, lead our families, and influence our communities.

See you there! Map to the Church

As I prayed for my kids I asked the Lord to help me come to a simple, easy-to-remember way for my kids to know they’re making Godly decisions in their own lives. Each time I make a decision or face an event or choice, I, too, must use a criteria grounded in the Word; not an overwhelming process that weighs us down, but one that lifts us in the knowledge that God will bless our decisions.

Follow these simple steps based upon solid passages to weigh each decision you make…

Have you ever heard yourself say “I just want to be in the center of God’s will…”?

This is the commonly taught theory (unfortunately taught as Biblical principle…) that God has a “specific” or “exact” will for us that is so defined and narrowly focused, that if we miss it, we are somehow relegated to second best.

YES… He does and will have specific tasks for us to accomplish along our path, however, it goes directly against His character to have laid out such a road map that if we somehow miss the off-ramp to His will -that’s it… ya can’t back up on the highway!

It is my prayer that the following short study will release you from the unnecessary weight that Satan loads on our shoulders; that because of the decisions and mistakes we have made we have convinced ourselves it nearly impossible to be in the “center” of God’s will. “So, why try?” we ask ourselves, and… Satan wins.

Satan doesn’t stop pursuing us just because we’ve come to the saving knowledge of Jesus, by no means! He turns up the heat in order to render us ineffective for God; in raising our kids, loving our wives, sharing Christ -everything. He does do through accusation, condemnation, and regret. (Understanding these tactics is another subject altogether!)

Let’s look at these notes excerpted from James MacDonald’s teaching on the “Dot Theory”.

Employer? Wife? Family Member, Friend? You fill in the blank, and let’s talk this one through.

Just a disclaimer to start…
Make no mistake, we are not discussing circumstances that lead to or involve physical abuse. In the event of a physically abusive situation -leave, find a place of safety, and seek help!

Our intention here is to take a close look at what the Word of God says about dealing with verbally or mentally abusive or hostile individuals we must face on a frequent basis throughout our lives. In general, the principles in the Bible regarding what to do in these hostile environments are pretty much the same for all of us.

Yes, I know this is a bit of an over-simplification since every situation has differing circumstances. However, God’s Word is true, His principles are trustworthy, His instruction is sure. We have all we need to understand how to gain strength to deal with these situations with Godly character, but more than that, the incredible value there is in these conflicts for us and for them!

So let’s go to the Bible…

(You got to read more!)
